BIO

A flair for the dramatic.

Soprano Zoe Catchpoole has known from a young age that she was born a performer- first exploring this love on the violin. However, singing was always her underlying passion. Although she  enjoyed exploring folk and jazz, her love of opera bloomed during her final years of high school. This orchestral experience, along with her love of language, has shaped her into the well-rounded musician she is today.

Zoe was honoured to receive first place in the Aria section of QMTA’s Queensland Vocal Competition 2024. In 2023, Zoe Catchpoole's dedication to her craft led her to the Italian In-Country Independent  Study program, a dream she had nurtured for years. Her commitment was recognized with a modest grant, which she used to further her education. As an English Language Assistant, she  not only honed her skills but also shared her knowledge with primary-aged children in English,  Maths, Science, History, and Art.

She is currently completing her honours thesis at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith  University under the supervision of Shelli Hulcombe. With the mentorship of Associate  Professor Margaret Schindler, Zoe Catchpoole is eagerly embracing her role as Sorella Infirmiera in this year's production of Suor Angelica. This follows her successful portrayal as First Lady in  the 2024 Val Machin scenes. In 2023, she also left a lasting impression with her performance as Juno in QCGU's celebrated production Underworld.

In 2023, she was successfully awarded the Pilgrim Singers choral scholarship at Merthyr Road Uniting Church and continues to sing with them this year.
